Currently Tall Tails is still in a development phase, but our team at ZUUL Labs has worked to put together a playable demo for the jurors of IndieCade to judge. We wanted give them a full look at not only the fun art style and adorable puppy visuals that our art team has put together, but also get hands-on with the deep puzzle mechanics that are the core of the Tall Tails experience, and make it worthy of a selection by the IndieCade Council.
We’ve mentioned before that Tall Tails is similar to an enhanced version of the gameplay in Flow Free. The player must connect the set of endpoints (the puppy avatar to the red 'X') by forming a path that touches every open tile on the game board. Our team has worked incredibly hard to create intricate, exciting, and fun puzzles that get increasingly more difficult as the levels advance, but that progress in such a way so that players feel fulfilled, yet hungry for more!
Tall Tails includes power-ups, level-specific objectives, a complex game board of tailored tiles, and an ink well that limits your moves per level. But that’s not all! Players will also be faced with special tiles that make you jump, speed up, swap locations on the board, and tiles that must be tapped twice to win. So far, we have 125 levels planned for our initial release that will include monsters, trolls, and other special secrets that make Tall Tails a robust and polished mobile experience!
Not even the judges of IndieCade will have the privilege of seeing everything Tall Tails has to offer! Some elements are still in the works, others are still in their infancy, and a few are simply too amazingly amazing to divulge before the release.
We are excited for the IndieCade judges to get their hands on Tall Tails and even more excited to join them at the conference in Culver City, CA in October!
